Ian Watkins, the former Lostprophets frontman, was serving a 35-year sentence for heinous crimes against children, having been incarcerated since 2013. However, after he was attacked and stabbed in prison two years ago over a drug debt, it has now been reported that on Saturday morning, the 48-year-old was killed following another stabbing. As of the time of writing, not much more is known, although West Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident.
Watkins, born in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, rose to prominence thanks to co-founding Lostprophets in 1997 with bandmates Lee Gaze and Mike Lewis. Subsequently, the band achieved significant success in the early 2000s, with their music featured in a music video produced by WWE for Jeff Hardy. However, following the release of their fifth studio album, the band disbanded due to Watkins’ criminal conviction.
