Dean Malenko Recently Underwent Very Serious Surgery

Dean Malenko is a senior backstage producer for AEW, and despite being one of the top stars of WCW in the mid-90s, he mainly stays out of the limelight due to having several serious health issues. And now, during the latest edition of his popular podcast, his AEW colleague Jim Ross has disclosed that Malenko recently underwent brain surgery in an attempt to treat the symptoms of his Parkinson’s disease.

“Malenko’s had some health issues. I saw him there. And he had brain surgery, and it stops his shakes from Parkinson’s, and it has, he’s had the surgery. He’s such a sweetheart of a guy.”

62-year-old Malenko is a second-generation wrestler that many fans first discovered during his ECW run in the mid-90s. However, his fame and status within the business would transcend to another level in WCW, where he was a multiple-time Cruiserweight Champion as well as United States Champion and World Tag Team Champion with Chris Benoit. He would then finish his in-ring career in WWE after jumping from WCW as part of The Radicalz stable alongside Benoit, Perry Saturn, and Eddie Guerrero.
