While pink is synonymous with Bret Hart in the wrestling business, Darby Allin has begun to stake a claim on the color by wearing a fluffy pink jacket on AEW television. And now, while being interviewed by Fightful, the AEW original has revealed his fashion choice isn’t simply because he liked the look but because it will help him stand out from the rest of the roster.
“Well, you know the thing is, when I broke my foot and then got hit by a bus. I was watching the show a lot. I thought a lot of people were wearing dark colors. So I figured if I come back wearing a pink jacket, so if you flip through it, if you’re flipping through the channel, you see a skeleton with a skateboard held in a pink jacket, it’s going to pop out really good.”
31-year-old Allin began wrestling in 2014, and many thought it was unlikely that he would ever work for a major promotion because of his size. However, when Tony Khan needed bodies to launch AEW, he would get an opportunity to prove himself. Subsequntly this would prove to be one of Khan’s best-ever signings, as after he went to a 20-minute draw at Fyter Fest 2019 with Cody Rhodes, it was clear he’d discovered a potential star, who was soon being likened to a young Jeff Hardy.
