Matt Lyda, the original co-host of The Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast, has addressed the fan backlash following his replacement by Michelle McCool. In a new interview with Maven, Lyda stressed that he harbors no resentment toward Mark Calaway or McCool, revealing they still exchange friendly messages. Additionally, he called McCool family and asked fans to stop directing negativity toward her.
“I am not bitter. I am not upset with them at all … She has been nothing but a phenomenal person to me and to my wife. I will never sit here and say anything negative about Michelle McCool. I don’t want people making negative comments to her and going, ‘I wish I had Matt.’ I don’t want that.” – Matt Lyda
Lyda’s podcast legacy stems from co-creating and shaping Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway, which gave fans an intimate, unfiltered glimpse into wrestling’s most mysterious icon. His everyman perspective and laid-back chemistry with The Deadman fueled candid road stories, memorable guest appearances by Jake Roberts and DDP, and millions of YouTube views. Though replaced after WWE’s involvement in 2025, Lyda remains proud of laying the foundation for the show. He continues hosting When Wrestling Was Real and White Trash with Money while serving as President of Business Development at Nine Line Apparel.
