Ahead of Clash in Italy, there was serious concern that Jacob Fatu would have to be pulled from his highly anticipated Tribal Combat match against Roman Reigns. Fatu had been spotted limping heavily after a recent UK house show match with Solo Sikoa, raising concerns about his physical condition. Thankfully, he was medically cleared in time, allowing the match to proceed as planned and suggesting the injury may not have been as severe as initially feared. Still, according to a report by False Finish, WWE had a backup plan in place, with Drew McIntyre discussed as Fatu’s potential replacement.
Following his loss to Fatu at WrestleMania 42, McIntyre stepped away to film the highly anticipated upcoming Highlander reboot in Scotland under director Chad Stahelski. However, with principal photography now believed to have wrapped, the Scottish Warrior is free to return to the ring as soon as creative has something for him. And with WWE’s European tour continuing this week, his next appearance could happen sooner rather than later.
