Darby Allin Names Song He Wants For His Entrance

In a recent interview with Kerrang, AEW star Darby Allin took part in the “10 Songs That Changed My Life” series. Allin picked a variety of tunes including: “Comfortably Numb” (Pink Floyd – The first song that I remember hearing); “My Way” (Sid Vicious – The song that reminds me of being at school); “Eyes Without A Face (Billy Idol – The song that reminds me of first love); “Wild In The Streets” (Circle Jerks – The song that reminds me of the first show I went to); “Do They Owe Us A Living” (Crass – The song that pumps me up before getting in the ring); “Girl From North Country Fair” (Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan – The song I like to sing along to); “Bangarang” (Skrillex – The worst song ever written); “Roseblood” (Mazzy Starr – The song that helps me chill out); “When I Die” (GG Allin – The song I want played at my funeral).

Allin also picked “The song I’d like to have as an entrance theme,” and explained his choice of “Sunshine Ward” by Amebix.

“I just love this song,” he said. “It’s another one that gets me really hyped-up. I love how it starts slow and picks up as it goes on, and I think it would be so cool to hear that playing as I walk out to the ring. I don’t think a lot of people really listen to that type of music, too, and it would be really cool to introduce the wrestling world to something totally new. I think it’s more important for wrestling themes to build up an atmosphere than to have that immediate ‘bang’. My current theme song [“I Fell” by Wicca Phase Springs Eternal] does that. I also like songs that don’t just immediately make people think of wrestling. You know those corny wrestling shirts where you just immediately go, ‘Oh, that’s a wrestling shirt!’ It’s the same with corny wrestling songs where you’re like, ‘This is so bad!’ My goal is to have outsiders say ‘This is so cool!’, then find out it’s a wrestling song…”

Given that AEW CEO Tony Khan has frequently paid for the rights to well-known songs, it’s very possible that Allin will get his wish to use the tune for his entrance.
