Cody Rhodes’ SummerSlam introduction was emotional, to say the least, as the voice of Dusty Rhodes played before his music hit, saying “Don’t let me down now,” and “I’m proud of you.” However, some fans on social media would complain, feeling it was disrespectful to the memory of his father for WWE to put words into his mouth via AI. However, it turns out fans were complaining over nothing, as Dusty’s daughter Teil has since clarified on X that WWE took the audio from his past promos.
It appears the majority of the lines spoken by Dusty came from his legendary “The View Never Changes” and “Hard Times” promos, which many fans consider to be his best mic work ever. Plus, even if it had been AI, it’s almost certain that WWE would have discussed with Cody beforehand to get his approval, indicating that the online reaction was an overreaction from the start.
