Chris Jericho Alludes To Being The AEW Contracted Wrestler WWE Reached Out To

A recent report claimed that someone in WWE’s talent relations department tried to contact an AEW performer to inquire about their contract. This resulted in many online discussions about who it could be, with fans speculating on names like Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland due to their success in NXT and Triple H bringing back talent. Now though, Chris Jericho has suggested on Twitter he was that wrestler, as when responding to a fan regarding a WWE return, he included the hashtag #tampering. Nevertheless, it should be noted that it’s possible Jericho was simply having fun with his tweet, although it does seem plausible considering his legendary WWE career. With a Hall of Fame induction at some point looking inevitable.

Whether what WWE did was contract tampering would need a lawyer with details of AEW’s contracts to comment. However, if the same were to happen in reverse, and AEW spoke to a contracted WWE talent directly, it would be considered contract tampering. That is why Jeff Hardy confirming he was AEW-bound while still technically contracted to WWE due to his 90 non-compete clause was contentious and potentially opened Tony Khan to legal action.
