Matt Cardona has proven there is life after WWE, having worked for virtually every significant promotion in North America since his departure, establishing himself as arguably the biggest star on the indies. However its no secret that he would love to return to WWE, and this has now seen Kevin Owens poke fun at him during his appearance on Cody Rhodes’ podcast, saying “for a guy who loves being on the indies so much he sure f”cking talks about how much he wants to be in WWE a lot.“
As of this writing, Cardona hasn’t acknowledged this subtle put-down himself. Still, his wife, Chelsea Green, appears to be fully aware of what was said, as she’s taken to X to say she should be “charging royalties” to those who can’t keep his name out of their mouths. Tweet
When 40-year-old Cardona, previously known as Zack Ryder, was released by WWE after 14 years, many thought he would drift away into obscurity like many other overlooked talents before him. Yet he would instead totally rebrand himself, allowing him to build an enviable bank account thanks to both wrestling on the indies and his business ventures. Therefore, even if he doesn’t return to WWE, his career will go down as a huge success.
