Chelsea Green was one of the ten wrestlers cut by WWE last week despite having signed a new three-year contract five months previously. While some wrestlers would take a break to regroup, the former Impact Knockouts Champion has wasted no time attempting to secure her name. Additionally, she wants the nickname she used when wrestling as Laurel Van Ness in Impact Wrestling.
On April 15, the same day she was released, Green filed trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for “Chelsea Green,” which is also her real name, and “Hot Mess.” While she should be able to take possession of both, there may be some delay in securing her name because WWE currently has their own application, but it hasn’t been approved because they didn’t obtain written consent from Green at the time, and unless she gives this by August 16, 2021, it will be abandoned.
Green is already accepting bookings for when her non-compete clause expires and is referring to herself on her Pro Wrestling Tees page as The Hot Mess. This could indicate she plans to bring back her popular alter-ego Laurel Van Ness, best known for her disheveled look and smeared makeup.
