Brock Lesnar’s Initially Planned WrestleMania 40 Opponent Has Been Reported

With Brock Lesnar being implicated in Janel Grant’s abuse lawsuit against Vince McMahon, he was subsequently pulled from this past weekend’s Royal Rumble match. And now, following confirmation he was going to wrestle Dominik Mysterio at Elimination Chamber, Dave Meltzer has reported the former UFC Heavyweight Champion’s WrestleMania 40 opponent was going to be Intercontinental Champion Gunther.

“The Lesnar creative which at this point he’s not going to be involved with unless they decide they would bring him back, was Lesnar vs. Dominik Mysterio in Australia and Lesnar vs. Gunther (I don’t know factually an IC title match but one would expect) at WrestleMania.”

With it known that Bron Breakker took Lesnar’s spot in the Rumble match and has seemingly been called up to the main roster based on his post-match comments, there is now speculation he could replace Lesnar in both of the aforementioned matches. However, that is far from certain at this point, and it’s still possible that WWE decides to totally reshuffle their upcoming cards to take into account Lesnar’s absence.
