Brian Cage Opens Up On His Knee Recovery Nightmare

Brian Cage hasn’t wrestled since March 2025 due to a serious knee injury and underwent a third knee surgery in November. And now, during an interview with Nick Teodoro, the AEW wrestler revealed that his rehab isn’t going as planned, saying the discomfort he is currently experiencing is nearly unbearable, particularly when working to regain his range of motion.

“I was doing these single-leg squat deals, and we’re guessing that’s what aggravated it. I’m not really sure if it’s a bursitis-type situation or if there’s some kind of irritation from the implant in my knee, the one on my femur, rubbing against it. I don’t know exactly what it is, but it kind of sucks, because it’s a different type of pain now, and it’s been hindering some of the continued progress we could be making. … It’s been some of the most painful rehab I’ve ever done. I told my wife, besides a few top-tier injuries I’ve had, this is right up there in terms of pain level, especially when it comes to bending my knee and getting my range of motion back.”Brian Cage

41-year-old Brian Cage debuted in wrestling in 2005 and briefly worked in WWE’s developmental territory FCW as Kris Logan, winning the Florida Tag Team Championship. As an independent, he went on to capture multiple titles and showcased his star potential in Lucha Underground and Impact Wrestling. Therefore, when Tony Khan needed talent to bolster his AEW roster, it was a no-brainer to bring in Cage, who debuted alongside ECW original Taz and was pushed as the FTW World Champion.
