“Dark Side of the Ring” has become a cult hit among pro wrestling fans, with the seedier side of the business sometimes being more fascinating than the storylines that appear on television. And now, in good news for those who enjoy the docuseries, PWInsider.com has reported that not only has a seventh season been greenlit, but filming has already commenced.
As of writing, no topics have been disclosed, but many will be hoping that this season finally covers convicted sex offender Buck Zumhofe, WWE’s disastrous Girls Gone Wild partnership, and the tragic death of Ashley Massaro.
“Dark Side of the Ring” premiered on April 10, 2019, and, except for 2022, a new season has been released every year. Considered by many to be a very niche show given the subject matter, the season 2 finale, “The Final Days of Owen Hart,” was the highest-rated program in Vice network history with 626,000 viewers. Therefore, it’s easy to understand why the show keeps being renewed, with the world of pro wrestling unfortunately having enough tragedy and controversy to easily fill several more seasons.
