AJ Styles is still regarded as one of the best pro wrestlers in the world, despite being in his late 40s. However, it has been known for some time that his in-ring career is coming to an end, with the former WWE Champion having previously stated that he intends to retire before his 50th birthday.
And while some fans have speculated that he could conclude his career in AEW, that now looks unlikely, as Fightful Select reports that those close to Styles have leaked to them that he has signed an extension with WWE.
48-year-old Styles made his name in TNA after spending over a decade in the promotion, only departing because they wanted to reduce his salary by a rumored 60%. At the time, it was thought this could result in the end of his pro wrestling career in mainstream American wrestling. Still, after a very successful run in New Japan, he received an offer from WWE and subsequently became one of their most prominently featured performers, winning the WWE Championship twice and the Raw Tag Team Championship alongside Omos.
