Big AEW Star Making OVW Appearance

Ohio Valley Wrestling has been in the news lately due to the new docuseries “Wrestlers” on Netflix. Still, despite this newfound worldwide fame, the promotion depends on drawing fans to live events, and it’s now been announced this week’s tapings have a very special guest appearing, with Paul Wight returning to the promotion. Wight previously spent time in OVW in the early 2000s when working as Big Show in WWE due to the need to lose weight.

OVW was formed in 1993 by Danny Davis and is best known to wrestling fans for its time as a developmental territory for WWE between 1999 and 2008. During this time, multiple future stars, including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Batista, and Randy Orton, would learn the business there. However, due to the launch of Florida Championship Wrestling, which later became NXT, WWE ended its relationship with the promotion. Later, OVW would form a similar relationship with TNA, but that only lasted a couple of years. Nowadays, the promotion is owned by radio host Matt Jones and Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg but is run day-to-day by Al Snow.
