AEW Talents Appear At GCW Fight Club To Assist Nick Gage Defeat Jon Moxley (w/Video)

On Friday night AEW all but spoiled the result of the GCW Fight Club match between Jon Moxley vs. Nick Gage. They did this by mentioning in the press release they issued regarding Moxley’s contract extension that he’d be working for them exclusively in the US in the future. Therefore it seemed inevitable that Moxley would be dropping the GCW Championship. However, this raised the question regarding whether Tony Khan would be happy to see the current AEW World Champion put over Gage clean.

And clearly, the answer was no, as, during the match, which took place on Saturday night, in kayfabe, MJF sent W. Morrissey and Stokely Hathaway to make sure Moxley lost. As after Morrissey chokeslammed Moxley through a glass pane covered in barbwire, Gage would deliver three piledrivers and a choke breaker to win.

If this will be acknowledged on AEW television is unknown, as GCW has previously teased working with WWE. Nevertheless, regardless of whether it airs on Dynamite, it was a great way to get the GCW Championship off Moxley while keeping him strong and escalating his feud with MJF for those who are aware this transpired. And while some fans on social media have been critical of Khan for seemingly preventing Moxley from continuing wrestling for GCW, it should be noted that the former WWE Champion is one of his highest-paid talents and most prominent stars. So the risk of injury, especially given GCW’s death match style, is likely too much for AEW’s head honcho.
