Shortly before All In: Texas, Tony Khan took to social media to disclose that Adam Cole was vacating the TNT Championship and needed to “take some time away” to recover. Subsequently, Cole would cut an emotional promo on the show, implying that he may not be able to wrestle again, breaking fans’ hearts.
And now, after Tony Khan addressed the situation in more detail during the post-show media scrum, disclosing that Cole felt unwell on Saturday morning, Fightful Select has reported his health issue is concussion-related.
Unfortunately this is not the first head injury that Cole has sustained, as he suffered a severe concussion at Forbidden Door 2022. At the time, it wasn’t certain that the former NXT Champion would be able to return to the ring, with him needing to see a doctor three times a week at one point. And while he obviously was able to resume his career, having suffered such a severe brain injury, he was always going to be more susceptible going forward.
