The world sadly lost Edward Fatu, best known by his WWE ring name Umaga, 16 years ago, leaving a widowed wife and four children fatherless. And now, in an emotional tweet, his son Isayah, who also wrestles as Zilla Fatu, having trained at Booker Tâs Reality of Wrestling, has taken to X to acknowledge his father’s passing, writing, “I miss you pops.“
Umaga’s true big break came in 2006 when he was repackaged as the savage “Samoan Bulldozer,” subsequently winning the Intercontinental Championship twice and memorably feuding with John Cena and Bobby Lashley. However, despite achieving main event status, he was released in 2009 after a second Wellness Policy violation and died six months later at the age of 36 from a drug overdose that caused a heart attack.
