WWE Referee Charles Robinson is one of WWE’s most beloved personalities, having worked for the company for over two decades. However, things haven’t been going great for him over the past month, as after he suffered a broken rib during Goldberg’s retirement match, he has now taken to Instagram to inform fans he is currently hospitalized, having been bitten by a bat overnight. Seemingly, this is due to the bat possibly carrying rabies, and indicating how unusual this is, the odds of someone being bitten by a bat are reportedly one in several million.
61-year-old Robinson broke into the business in 1995, initially as a photographer before becoming a referee. From there, he would get an opportunity to ref a dark match between Kendall Windham and Chris Adams for WCW, and a few months later, he was signed full-time. From there, he also became an on-air character, working as a heel referee, and famously suffered a collapsed lung after Randy Savage landed badly on him when performing an elbow drop. And while it was feared his career could be in jeopardy after Vince McMahon purchased his rivals, Robinson not only had his contract picked up, but ended up becoming one of the most recognizable referees in WWE history.
