Last year, WWE introduced a new concept, WWE Speed, featuring short matches exclusively airing on the social media platform X. However, despite the matches getting plenty of views, few fans genuinely cared due to the lack of big names.
And now, after no WWE Speed matches were taped over the past few weeks, leading to speculation WWE had dropped the idea, Dave Meltzer has reported that he believes this to be the case, noting that “it was so insignificant that nobody has talked about it.“
WWE Speed matches were typically recorded during Raw and SmackDown tapings and aired a few days later, with there having been 76 matches as of writing. And while the tournament winners were listed as champions, few were acknowledged as such on WWE television, either due to exclusivity with X, or simply because it was thought few fans would care.
