Wrestling Legend Terry Funk Is Currently In A Great Deal Of Pain

Terry Funk is one of the most beloved and respected wrestlers of all time. He began wrestling in 1965 and last wrestled in 2017, showing remarkable longevity. He should be enjoying a well-deserved retirement, however, Dustin Rhodes has shared the sad update on Twitter that Funk is currently in a lot of pain and has asked fans to send prayers. As many wrestlers do, Funk has lived in pain throughout his career, famously needing knee replacement surgery in the late 90s as documented in Beyond The Mat, but held out until 2012. It seems though the pain is now getting really severe.

A few days ago, the hardcore legend requested fans stop sending him items to autographs due to him being too old and tired. You can watch his request, which was originally uploaded to his Twitter account below.

It doesn’t seem long ago that Funk was hitting moonsaults in ECW, WWE, and WCW in his 50’s, but he actually turns 77 this year and is widowed following the passing of his wife of 54 years, Vicki. Hopefully, Funk can continue to battle on and keep kicking out at two and a half, as the wrestling world isn’t ready to mourn another legend.
