Wrestling Journalist Claims CM Punk Threatened To Punch Him In The Face

Ryan Satin of FOX Sports is also well-known for his time working for the tabloid news organization TMZ. And now the journalist, who previously ran his own wrestling website, has disclosed on X that after trying to help new WWE signee CM Punk a decade ago keep a personal issue out of the spotlight, he was threatened with physical violence when he couldn’t assist him.

“A coworker in another state who checked court documents for possible stories found a restraining order Punk had filed against his parents in 2013. I caught wind of this being worked on behind my back and told him, because he helped me with other stories I had done on him. He pleaded with me to get it killed and I tried my absolute best because people didn’t need to know that/he was in the right in his very personal situation.

The next day, I was told that they were going to run it anyway. When I called Punk to inform him of their decision, he said he’d proceed to make my life a living hell in wrestling and if he ever saw me he’d punch me in the face. I literally only tried to help him. Since then, he’s had no problem talking to TMZ for press, but for some reason holds me accountable for a story I had nothing to do with.”

While it was recently revealed, due to his backstage antics in AEW, that Punk has temper issues and can get violent when angry, this behavior isn’t actually new. In fact, the first known altercation Punk was involved in was back in 2004 when he fought Teddy Hart outside of a restaurant when both were in TNA. The fight apparently stemmed from a prior ROH show where third-generation Hart performed multiple unplanned spots, putting others in danger. Who won the fight is up to debate, depending on whom you hear the story from, but it appears to have been short, with neither man seriously harming the other.
