Michael Elgin, who is best known to wrestling fans for his matches in Ring of Honor, and New Japan, took to Twitter last year, revealing he was addicted to painkillers. He’d announce though he has decided to tackle this issue head-on and was going to rehab. It had been hoped he would be able to turn his life around, however on June 29th, he was arrested and charged for violating a protective order filed by his ex-fiancé, which she was granted after claiming he had been abusing her.
Disturbingly this past weekend, it appeared things had gotten too much for Elgin, and he was considering taking his own life. The reason for assuming this was a distressing 27-minute video he uploaded to YouTube titled “Last post. Thank you for those who’ve been apart of these chapters.” In this, he would thank fans, state it was the final time they would hear from him, and said goodbye. He would then follow up in the comments talking about his son and ex-wife, fellow wrestler MsChif.
Understandably, friends and fans were worried, with those who tried to contact him discovering his phone was turned off and fearing the worst. Thankfully, though, Impact Wrestling referee Daniel Spencer would later tweet the news that Elgin was safe. Hopefully, this also means Elgin is now in touch with professionals who can help him at this time.

Elgin is a 20-year veteran despite only being 34 years of age and has won multiple championships worldwide. The last major promotion he worked for was Impact Wrestling, but after being named in the #SpeakingOut movement, he was fired on June 26th, 2020. Since then, he has only wrestled twice on indie shows as his life appears to have been spiraling out of control from the outside.
