Will Ospreay hasn’t wrestled since All In: Texas last month, and has subsequently revealed that after his match at Forbidden Door, taking place in his home country, he’ll be undergoing back surgery. And now, while speaking to CBSsports.com, the British star has revealed that he is “terrified,” having never been operated on before, and acknowledged he may not be able to come back as the same in-ring performer afterward.

“I’m scared, generally, I’m terrified, not about the match, but just about afterwards … I’ve never had surgery, I’ve never broken a bone, other than my nose, which everyone can tell, because it looks like I’ve been hit by a frying pan. If I think too much about it, I’ll f*cking cry … When I heard what procedure I’ll be doing, I heard other wrestlers have had this, and they haven’t come back the same.”Will Ospreay

32-year-old Ospreay first began wrestling for AEW in 2022 due to the promotion having a working relationship with New Japan. This would see him involved in several show-stealing matches, leaving most assuming Tony Khan would do whatever it took to sign him, especially with it known that WWE was also monitoring his contract situation. Therefore, when Ospreay officially became All Elite, having signed a big-money contract, Khan wasted no time booking dream matches for his fellow sickos, with Bryan Danielson, Konosuke Takeshita, Swerve Strickland, and MJF among his pay-per-view opponents.
