Whether Edge Can Use “Metalingus” In AEW Has Been Reported

With Edge becoming a free agent at midnight on Saturday, the speculation online has been non-stop that he is set to join All Elite Wrestling. With one of the most frequently asked questions being whether he can continue using “Metalingus” by Alter Bridge as his theme song if he were to sign with AEW. And now Fightful Select has reported via their sources that they don’t believe WWE ever secured exclusive rights. Therefore, the opportunity is likely there for AEW to acquire usage of the song if they wanted to.

“One source that we spoke to does not believe that WWE owns exclusive licensing rights to Metalingus, as it appears on their One Day Remains album, but another said that there can be exclusive rights reached, though WWE likely never felt it necessary.”

49-year-old Edge was forced into early retirement in 2011 due to neck injuries; however, thanks to having plenty of time to heal and advances in medical knowledge, he successfully returned to the ring during the men’s Royal Rumble match in 2020. Since then, he has been treated as a bigger star than ever, working against all of WWE’s current-day stars. However, if the rumors are to be believed, he is open-minded about his future, and a very lucrative contract with AEW may have tempted him away from the company where he found fame.
