Drake Wuertz Credits WWE With Saving His Life

Two months ago, former WWE referee Drake Wuertz, best known by his ring name Drake Younger, bravely announced on Instagram that he was checking into a rehabilitation facility. Precisely why he needed professional help wasn’t disclosed, although he stated he was doing it for his wife and five children and that he needed to be “the best version of me for them.“ And now, having successfully completed the treatment, he has returned to Instagram to credit WWE with saving his life, seemingly confirming they paid for the treatment.

“Many people have gone above and beyond to ensure I had the best opportunity to recover–Shannon Moore, Mox, Big Bill, Rene Dupree, Matt Morgan, and WWE legitimately saved my life by getting me into treatment.”

39-year-old Wuertz retired from death match wrestling after signing with WWE in 2014 and looked set to have a long and successful career with the company. However, he was fired in 2021 following a series of incidents that saw him generate heat with management. These included missing an NXT taping due to arguing against children wearing masks at a school board meeting, using his WWE email address to organize activities for a conspiracy theory charity, and, most shockingly, even walking out of a speech Triple H was given about Black Lives Matter. However, he appears to have turned his life around, and hopefully, he can avoid any relapses.
