In February, AEW management suspended Sammy Guevara for not following concussion protocols during his Rampage match with Jeff Hardy. For those unaware, the former WWE star suffered a broken nose when Guevara accidentally landed on his face during a Shooting Star Press. Yet, despite being told to quickly pin his opponent, Guevara instead hit his GTH finishing move. And now, almost three months later, Dave Meltzer on X has confirmed that Guevara remains suspended.
It’s understood that Hardy thankfully didn’t suffer a concussion following the scary blow to his head, but as Guevara didn’t know this at the time, he was still suspended for ignoring safety instructions. When the AEW original will return to action currently remains unknown, although this is the second time the company has suspended him, which may be a factor. As he was previously sidelined for 30 days in 2020 after past abhorrent comments he made about Mercedes Moné went viral.
