TMZ reports that Danny Carey was arrested for allegedly getting into a fight with airport security. The site also posted footage of Carey’s arrest. Police responded Sunday night to a report of a disturbance between two men, according to TMZ. They arrested Carey when they arrived at the scene and transported him to a nearby police station. Carey was booked for misdemeanor assault and was released on bond. The police report is being forwarded to prosecutors for review, and potential charges could follow.
Carey’s arrest comes a day after performing at the Kansas vs. Missouri men’s college basketball game in Lawrence, Kansas. Carey has played drums for Tool since the band’s formation, and he was ranked No. 26 in Rolling Stone’s list of 100 greatest drummers. Tool has released five studio albums and won four Grammy Awards. The band is also planning a return to the road in the U.S. and Europe in 2022.
