According to TMZ, Tool drummer Danny Carey was arrested at the Kansas City International Airport after allegedly getting into a fight with someone inside the terminal. Police responded Sunday night to a report of a disturbance, according to TMZ. They arrested Carey when they arrived at the scene and transported him to a nearby police station. Carey was booked for misdemeanor assault and was released on bond. The police report is being forwarded to prosecutors for review, and potential charges could follow.
Carey performed at the Kansas vs. Missouri college basketball game over the weekend. He’s played drums for Tool since the band’s formation in the ’80s in Los Angeles, and he was ranked No. 26 in Rolling Stone’s list of 100 greatest drummers.
Tool is making a return to the road in 2022, embarking on an extensive 54-date tour in the U.S. and Europe. “It is with great pleasure I get to announce our return to the road,” said Carey in a news release. “These past 18 months have been trying, to say the least, but from great trials come great lessons and great rewards. We are genuinely looking forward to sharing them with you.” Tool released “Fear Inoculum” in 2019, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 after fans waited 13 years for a new studio album. The band, which formed in 1990, has released five studio albums and earned four Grammy Awards.
