Vickie Guerrero made her AEW debut on the December 11th, 2019 episode of AEW. This appearance resulted in WWE severing ties with her, which shocked many in the industry, considering her late-husband died working for the company. AEW would step in make her welcome, first by having her as an audience member cheering on the wrestlers and involving her in The Inner Circle’s pep rally on Dynamite. Then on the July 15th Fight of the Fallen themed episode of Dynamite, she appeared as Nyla Rose’s manager.
Now in an interview, she has confirmed she signed her AEW contract this week and stated she wanted to work for AEW because of her numerous friendships and how AEW respects their talent.
I think it was a lot of mutual friends, I have a lot of great friends that I’ve known from past years, Cody Rhodes, and Dean Malenko, gosh, just me collaborating and being at different appearances. There’s been conversation back and forth. I think with that, we just came to the conclusion that I would love to work at AEW, which I expressed fully. I just, I fell in love with the company and the respect they have for the superstars, and the way they run their company was something that attracted me. That’s where I am now. I’m really happy to be there. Vickie Guerrero
Despite signing with WWE’s competition, she stated she was grateful for the opportunities they gave her late husband Eddie Guerrero and herself. She’d add Eddie looked at Vince McMahon like his father.
Eddie thought of him as a dad. He was very good to me and took great care of me when Eddie passed away. I think my focus with WWE was to do the best I could for him. I did that, and we left on very good terms.Vickie Guerrero
