There appears to be an injury curse in wrestling with CM Punk, Matt Cardona, Jeff Hardy, Adam Cole, and Cody Rhodes, all currently sidelined. And now it has sadly been confirmed that Bryan Danielson is also presently hurt and set to miss some time for the ring. Rumors of this would start on Sunday when it was revealed Danielson had to miss a meet and greet due to being unable to travel. And while precisely what the injury is, some on social media claimed it was a concussion.
Obviously, this was very concerning given Danielson’s well-known concussion history, which forced him to retire for several years while in WWE. However, PWinsider has since reported that they haven’t officially been informed he is concussed, but he is banged up following Double or Nothing’s Anarchy in the Arena match. They would also add that he, along with Adam Cole, should be back in time for Forbidden Door, which takes place on June 26th.
Of all the companies affected by injuries, AEW is undoubtedly the one most impacted right now. Still, Tony Khan does have a vast roster of talented performers, so it’s doubtful the product will seriously suffer from these absences. Sadly this is just part of the business with wrestling and injuries going hand in hand, and truth be told, many never actually get reported as wrestlers typically battle through them. Nevertheless, with more known about the effects of working while hurt, both wrestlers and promoters do take injuries more seriously, especially when brain-related.
