Update On Seth Rollins’ Furious Reaction To CM Punk’s WWE Return

CM Punk astounded wrestling fans when he returned to WWE at Survivor Series, although at the time, it also seemed that the wrestlers in the ring following the main event were just as surprised to see him. This included Seth Rollins, who appeared to be visibly angry in footage shared on social media, and subsequently, it was reported by Fightful Select that the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion had to be ushered away by Triple H and Michael Cole when he tried to confront Punk backstage. However, as many initially suspected, Dave Meltzer has now confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that this was all part of an upcoming storyline, and WWE is planning on having the pair work an angle together.

“That was 100% angle because, playing off the fact that months ago when somebody asked Seth Rollins, it’s like, ‘he’s a cancer, we don’t want him. Later, by the way, he said, ‘if the company wants him, and it’s the right thing,’ he doesn’t have a problem with it. But because he made that statement, they figured they could do a shoot angle with it. And it makes sense.”

45-year-old Punk is now expected to be at this week’s Raw in Nashville, so it seems likely there will be some type of confrontation between him and Rollins ahead of a Royal Rumble match. Of course, WWE may instead want to hold off such a big bout until WrestleMania, and if that’s the case, then Punk and Rollins’ feud may have a more drawn-out build.
