Update On LA Knight’s WWE Contract Negotiations

PWInsider.com recently reported that LA Knight and WWE were in negotiations over a new contract, with it potentially having already been signed. Now, however, Fightful Select has provided additional information on the talks, revealing that the two sides are far apart regarding money. Yet, with well over a year remaining on his current deal, there is still plenty of time to agree on a deal.

“We’re told the two sides were far apart on money as of now, and that no deal has been agreed to, and doesn’t appear imminent, but they’ll keep negotiating. Another WWE higher up said that there isn’t truth to the idea that LA Knight’s push was tied to a new contract, citing that a significant number of wrestlers on the roster have deals coming up next year and are still getting pushes. Knight’s current WWE deal runs well into 2025, and has over a year and a half left on it.”

40-year-old Knight initially wrestled for WWE a decade ago under the ring name Slate Randall. Although due to being depicted as an enhancement talent, he would only last on the NXT roster for just over a year before being released. Still, he didn’t give up on his dream, and after becoming Eli Drake on the independent circuit, he showed everyone what he was capable of as part of the TNA. Therefore, when WWE was looking to bring in fresh talent in early 2021, he was given a second chance to be a WWE Superstar.
