The wrestling world was shocked last month when news broke that AEW had fired Bear Boulder, real name Thomas Wansaw, due to his previously unreported arrest in January. According to the arrest affidavit, Wansaw had been arguing with his fiancée and would go on to place his foot onto her throat, leading to her blacking out. However, while it initially appeared there would be legal repercussions, that is no longer guaranteed, as according to RingsideNews.com, the victim has requested that all charges are dismissed having signed a legal document saying “I do not desire the case to be prosecuted further.”
34-year-old Wansaw broke into the business back in 2012, initially under the name Beefcake. Then, after establishing himself on the indie circuit, he formed the tag team Bear Country with Bear Bronson. This eventually resulted in them working for AEW as freelancers before signing full-time, thanks to MJF convincing Tony Khan to offer them contracts. Subsequently, the duo were renamed the Iron Savages and had most recently been featured in AEW’s sister promotion, ROH.
