Update On Eric Young’s WWE Status

Four months ago, it was reported that former Sanity member Eric Young was set to return to the WWE. This comes after he was written off Impact Wrestling’s television in a secretly filmed segment where Cody Deaner killed him, and Deaner took his spot as the head of Violent by Design. However, despite putting pen to paper, he has yet to return to television, and according to Fightful Select, he has not been spotted backstage.

Young has been under WWE contract since as far back as November 1, but hasn’t appeared at all on screen, and we have yet to hear of him being backstage at all.

Young built his name in TNA, but after a twelve-year run with the promotion and feeling underpaid, he left in 2016 for a new challenge. He’d go on to debut on NXT a few months later, losing to Samoa Joe, and clearly impressed WWE officials because he returned in October as the leader of Sanity.

His faction would be a featured act in NXT, but things went downhill once they moved to SmackDown in 2018. As part of the blue brand, they were mainly used to put other teams over, and at one point, even lost a three-on-one handicap match to The Miz. The group officially split when Young was drafted to Raw in April 2019, where his record ended up being 2-31. Exactly one year after his move to Raw, he was released as part of budgetary cuts.
