Update On CM Punk’s Royal Rumble Injury

News broke on Monday afternoon that CM Punk had suffered a severe injury during the men’s Royal Rumble match. At the time, not much more was known other than it was likely a torn triceps, which is the same injury he suffered in AEW. However, PWInsider.com has now not only confirmed that this is indeed the injury and Punk will require surgery but also revealed it likely occurred when Punk took a double underhook DDT from Drew McIntyre and subsequently rolled out the ring.

Punk returned to WWE at the conclusion of November’s Survivor Series, and while he has wrestled Dominik Mysterio twice on house shows, this was his first televised match for the company in a decade. What’s next for the 45-year-old remains to be seen, but considering the last time he suffered a torn triceps, he was out for nine months, it certainly appears his WrestleMania main event dream is over for this year.
