Unfortunate Injury Update Provided Regarding AEW’s Bandido

Former ROH World Champion Bandido revealed five months ago he had broken his wrist during a match with Konosuke Takeshita on Rampage. Subsequently, he would undergo surgery and was expected to have made his return to the ring by now. However, it has now been reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that his wrist has failed to heal correctly post-surgery, and therefore he requires another operation on it.

28-year-old Bandido’s career took off when he embraced the look of a Wild West bandit and began wrestling regularly for The Crash Lucha Libre promotion and competing with higher-profile talent. This led to him wrestling in the US, and his performances resulted in WWE offering him a developmental contract. Somewhat surprisingly, he would turn this down and instead signed with ROH as one of their highest-paid full-time performers. Then, in 2022, having departed ROH when the company was downsizing, he wrestled the biggest match of his career against Chris Jericho on Dynamite, which resulted in AEW signing him full-time.
