Four weeks ago, it was noted that the Motor City Machine Guns were being advertised for an indie show the same night TNA was holding its April pay-per-view Rebellion. This news obviously got fans talking, as both Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin were being booked as key performers for promotion. Therefore it was no surprise when it was confirmed that the duo’s deals were expiring, and now Bodyslam.net has reported that both Shelley and Sabin are AEW-bound, although their contract is yet to be fully finalized.
“After speaking to sources, I can now confirm that the Motor City Machine Guns are headed to AEW. Sources have told me that AEW and The Motor City Machine Guns are working on finalizing a deal. It was noted that the deal is not going to be finalized for a bit.”
Bodyslam.netShelley and Sabin first teamed in Pro Wrestling Zero1-Max back in 2006, and since then, they have established themselves as one of the top tag teams in the world, having won tag team gold in TNA, ROH, and New Japan. Additionally, both men have succeeded in singles competition, having been TNA Heavyweight and X Division Champion. However, with AEW signing them together, it appears their long-term future will remain as a tag team.
