Tony Schiavone Comments On His AEW Future

Former WCW commentator Tony Schiavone is beloved by most pro wrestling fans, especially ones who currently follow All Elite Wrestling. However, he isn’t getting any younger, and there is always speculation that his time in the business could be coming to an end, especially with it known his AEW deal expires in April of next year. Now, though, he has revealed during the latest episode of his popular podcast that he feels he has another contact in him if Tony Khan will give him the opportunity.

“I’m really honored that Tony would allow me to do play-by-play again at this stage in my life. Right now, I’m 66. I turned 66 on November 7th. I still t, realistically, I think I’ve got one more contract in me if Tony will go with that, and then we’ll see what happens.”

Schiavone broke into the business back in 1985, where he would host NWA’s World Championship Wrestling in front of a studio audience for Jim Crockett Promotions. Afterward, he jumped to WWE in 1989, but after just one year, he returned to WCW now under the ownership of Ted Turner. Then, following 11 years as WCW’s main play-by-play announcer, it appeared his wrestling career was unfortunately over when Vince McMahon purchased the company. Yet, he did work with TNA and MLW over the next 16 years on a part-time basis before AEW hired him.
