During an appearance on Vince Russo and Jonathan Coachman’s YouTube show, Tony Khan opened up about his unexpected one-time meeting with Shane McMahon. The AEW president described the lengthy conversation as pleasant and insightful, with both sons of billionaires sharing perspectives on the wrestling industry. However, Khan revealed that Shane showed no real interest in taking an on-screen role with AEW, contrary to what many online fans speculated.
“I had one really pleasant conversation with Shane. Shane reached out to me and said he’d love to get together, and asked where I was going to be. I was going to be in Dallas, we were doing shows in Arlington, Texas, and I said, ‘Yeah, that’s where we’re going to be.’ He seemed like an interesting guy, but I don’t think the role of being an on-screen person in a wrestling show seemed like something he was interested in.” – Tony Khan
56-year-old Shane McMahon started working for WWE at the age of just 15 and rose through the ranks as a referee, announcer, and ultimately fearless performer known for death-defying stunts like his Hell in a Cell plunge. Therefore despite fans believing he would be open to becoming All Elite, once his father Vince McMahon stepped away from WWE. Still, it seems he ultimately chose loyalty to his family’s legacy.
