Jeff Jarrett Hasn’t Joined AEW Just As An On-Screen Performer

Jeff Jarrett made his AEW debut during Dynamite following a match between Darby Allin and Jay Lethal and now appears to be a recurring character leading a faction consisting of Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Satnam Singh, and Cole Karter. Yet, if the WWE Hall of Famer becoming All Elite wasn’t big enough news, Tony Khan would confirm after the show on Twitter that Jarrett is his new AEW Director of Business Development. Which appears to be a similar role he held in WWE until Vince McMahon retired and Road Dogg replaced him.

It’s been quite a year for the 55-year-old, as in addition to his Senior Vice President of Live Events role in WWE, he featured as the special guest referee for the Street Profits vs. The Usos match at SummerSlam and was one of Ric Flair’s opponents for what was promoted as his last-ever match. Additionally, he was involved in an angle in GCW against Effy, and proving he is a master politician, he would agree to lose subsequent rematches as long as he went over in the first match. However, due to signing with WWE, he wouldn’t return, with many suspecting he was well aware he was WWE bound before the bout and therefore knew he wouldn’t end up putting Effy over.
