Who Decided On Which WWE Wrestlers Would Be Released Has Been Confirmed

WWE recently disappointed many fans by carrying out another round of talent cuts, with names like Jinder Mahal, Von Wagner, and Cameron Grimes released early from their contracts. And now, Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Triple H, WWE’s current chief content officer and head of creative, made the decision on who to let go.

“From what we were told, even though Wagner mostly exclusively worked in NXT, he was considered a main roster talent and the decision for all of these cuts were Paul Levesque main roster decisions.”

Sadly, roster cuts are part and parcel of being a pro wrestler, and WWE and AEW have most recently been using budgets as the excuse, which does come across as unfair considering the vast sums of money both promotions have. However, it is a business, and whenever a talent is off television for a significant amount of time, their future usually becomes uncertain unless they are already a massive star.
