Tony Khan Calls WWE An “Evil Juggernaut” & Likens Them To Disgraced Film Producer

There is no love lost between WWE and AEW, with both wrestling promotions fighting each other every week for wrestling fan’s attention and money. And now, while appearing on the NFL Network, AEW’s president and head of creative, Tony Khan, has put over his promotions growth while calling WWE a “really evil juggernaut.” Additionally, he would liken his opposition to shamed movie producer Harvey Weinstein, which would see his interview seemingly cut short.

“You know, we’ve been doing this for five years, we are the most successful sports start-up since the AFL pre-merger, there has not been a challenger brand that has gained as much market share as AEW in many, many, many years.

We are like the Pepsi of pro wrestling, and we’re up against a really evil juggernaut. WWE is our competitor, that’s who we’re facing. AEW is like the Pepsi of pro wrestling, WWE is like the Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling, and I’m really proud of what we do down here.”

To say the reaction to Khan’s comments online has been mixed would be an understatement. Die-hard AEW fans have loved Khan’s taking aim at his rival, especially with the Weinstein comment obviously aimed at Vince McMahon. However, some others have criticized him, believing it doesn’t come across as professional to take such a cheap shot. Still, it’s gotten fans talking, and in today’s age of social media, that’s half the battle for any brand.
