Rapper/rocker Machine Gun Kelly has covered a variety of songs over the years, but recently he’s come under criticism on TikTok for two songs he previously tackled — Paramore’s “Misery Business” and Linkin Park’s “Numb.” There are “a lot of reasons why [MGK’s cover of Paramore] sucks,” said Mathias More, “the fact MGK has the vocal range of a turtle and the pitch correction.” He goes on to call MGK’s vocals “dead and flat.” Another TikToker compared MGK to Disney character, Goofy, while the user sang Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life.”

A meme page posted a reaction of Dave Rivenbark to MGK singing Linkin Park. “Chester turning in his grave after hearing that.” Another account posted a video sharing their thoughts about the cover of “Numb” using an audio clip from the movie “Step Brothers” saying, “I can’t even hear what you’re saying right now, because your face is driving me nuts.”

Recently, MGK helped pick the music for the WWE 2K22 video game which includes tracks from MGK himself, Wu-Tang Clan, Motörhead, Royal Blood, The Weeknd and more. It was also announced that MGK would be a playable character in the game. “He has curated a unique soundtrack for WWE 2K22 that includes not only his own music but a diverse array of artists from The Weeknd to KennyHoopla. The 12-track soundtrack is the perfect complement to this edition’s enhanced gameplay,” said Neil Lawi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, WWE Music Group. Kelly also starred in a trailer with the Undertaker promoting his association with the game.

MGK feuded with Corey Taylor earlier this year. The Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman blasted the rapper/rocker after a proposed song collaboration went south. “You f*ck,” Taylor said. “You’ve been here for five minutes, basically, and you’re gonna f*cking run your mouth about bands that have been doing this for 20 f*cking years, like in the mud, in the dirt. They’re gonna wear whatever the f*ck they want.”
