According to a new report from Fightful Select, Matt Taven, Mercedes Martinez, and Alex Abrahantes have all departed AEW, following the expiration of their contracts. What’s next for all three is unclear, although Martinez recently announced plans for a final run in 2026 on the indies, which did indicate AEW had no plans for her.

Of the three names not having their contracts renewed, Taven, whose real name is Matthew Marinelli, is arguably the most surprising. The 40-year-old rose to prominence in ROH, winning the 2013 Top Prospect Tournament, and six years later became the ROH World Champion at Madison Square Garden. However, under Tony Khan’s employment, he was never heavily pushed, with his last match for the company being last April.
