When AEW was first launched, arguably Tony Khan’s most important signing was Chris Jericho, as it immediately put the promotion on the map. However, while it’s known that he is still under contract, Jericho hasn’t appeared on AEW television since April, and many predict he will be returning to WWE early next year.
And now, during a brief interview with Adam’s Apple, fellow AEW originals The Young Bucks have acknowledged the possibility of Jericho departing, with Nick Jackson referring to him as a “founding father,” while Matt simply said, “I love Chris Jericho.”
Jericho initially inked a three-year deal with AEW, which surprised many at the time as it was thought he would never work for anyone but WWE in North America. Subsequently, he defeated Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing and then Adam Page at All Out to become the inaugural AEW World Champion. Yet while he extended his contract through 2025, it now appears that he may have already wrestled his final match for the company.
