And now, in depressing news, it’s been disclosed by Book Pro Wrestlers that the 84-year-old is “battling serious health issues,” and has therefore been hospitalized yet again. No further information was given, although it was previously reported that he was dealing with a bleeding ulcer and also needed hip replacement surgery.
Canadian-born Shreve broke into the wrestling business back in 1958 and became a star thanks to his bloodthirsty madman gimmick, captivating fans worldwide. Due to his distinctive look and barbarity, he would both fascinate and disgust fans, making plenty of money for himself and promoters. Yet, he has sadly since lost everything, including his famed BBQ restaurant, due to putting all his assets in his now ex-wife’s name prior to her leaving him.
