The Rock’s Face-To-Face With Roman Reigns On SmackDown Sets Unwanted WWE Record

The Rock returned to SmackDown on Friday night and now looks set to headline WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns after the pair went face-to-face. Obviously, this is a dream match for many and will attract WWE a great deal of mainstream publicity. Still, this has left many fans online disgruntled that Cody Rhodes won’t be getting the spot he earned by winning the men’s Royal Rumble match last weekend.

And now, showing their frustration, not only is #WeWantCody trending in multiple countries, but the official YouTube video, as of writing, has almost 400,000 dislikes. Therefore, this sets an unwanted record for WWE, as it is now easily their most disliked YouTube video of all time, beating out Charlotte Flair being added to the WrestleMania 35 main event.

When Rhodes initially won the men’s Rumble match, it is understood that he was genuinely scheduled to be Reigns’ WrestleMania 40 opponent. Yet, according to PWInsider.com, the plan changed after both CM Punk and Brock Lesnar were removed from the show, and The Rock decided to “save the show.” However, at present, that decision is backfiring, and it will be fascinating to see how WWE reacts to the fan backlash.
