The Grizzled Young Veterans Comment Following Their Long-Awaited WWE Departures (w/Video)

Six months ago, both members of The Dyad requested their WWE releases, although management promptly turned them down. This was because the pair were featured on television as part of Joe Gacy’s Schism faction, and the company had long-term plans for them. Still, both men would go on to say on X they fully intended to depart but would instead have to wait for their contracts to expire.

Now, with that having occurred, James Drake, who had been going by the name Jagger Reid, has shared an in-character video of himself and Zack Gibson, formerly known as Rip Fowler. In this, they make it clear they were unhappy with how WWE presented them, saying they couldn’t be who they wanted to be.

The British duo, who are again known as the Grizzled Young Veterans, were the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions and looked set to be big stars in NXT. However, once WWE decided to strictly enforce their policy on owing the names of talents, both members would be re-named and repacked. This would see them join Gacy’s spooky Schism stable, and while the group was initially much-maligned, once The Rock’s eldest daughter Ava Raine later joined them, the perception changed.
