Last year, WWE began airing rare and overlooked matches on a new YouTube channel, which excited many longtime wrestling fans. And now, the account’s admin has issued a statement celebrating two million subscribers and one billion views. However, they would also shoot down posting Kurt Angle vs. Owen Hart as they can’t find the footage, in addition to clarifying that the highly sought-after match between Dean Malenko and Místico, who later became Sin Cara, never happened.
For those unaware, Malenko vs. Místico was reported to have taken place prior to the February 27th, 2007 episode of SmackDown. This was considered notable at the time Malenko had been retired for several years, and Místico was one of the biggest lucha libre stars in the world. However, Malenko himself would reveal during an interview with Hey! (EW) that the match actually featured Jamie Noble and a fan somehow got them confused and fed this back to dirt sheets, who reported it as fact.
